Orhan Atabay

Postdoctoral Fellow

Orhan is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Integrated Energy Systems, working on electrified transportation to investigate low carbon pathways under the supervision of Prof. Ned Djilali and Prof. Curran Crawford.

After the completion of his doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 2004, which focused on vehicle dynamics modeling, simulation and driving simulators, Orhan joined the Institute of Automotive Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig for three years as a postdoctoral fellow, where he was involved in various projects on multibody systems simulation, driving simulation and electric power steering systems.

Orhan served as a lecturer at ITU from 2010 to 2018 and taught graduate and undergraduate level courses, including electric and hybrid electric vehicles, vehicle powertrain systems, advanced driver assistance systems, vehicle control systems and vehicle design. Between the years 2009-2018, Orhan acted as academic advisor and researcher in various industry projects. Orhan also reviewed and nominated project applications on behalf of TUBITAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey).
