Sara Muir

Program Manager, University of British Columbia

Sara Muir holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of British Columbia (UBC). She is a registered planner with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), and serves as a Director on the Board for the Planning Institute of British Columbia (2019-2021). She has more than 15 years of experience in sustainable community planning in Canada and the US, having worked in Vancouver, Aspen, and Santa Fe. She has been involved in numerous award-winning projects including the CIP’s 2010 Planning Excellence Award for the “City of North Vancouver 100 Year Sustainability Vision.” In 2010, Sara joined the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS) as the UBC program manager. In addition to her role with PICS, she works with the UBC Sustainability Initiative (USI) to advance sustainability at UBC and across the region. Some of her favourite activities to do when not working include playing soccer with the Metro Vancouver Women’s Soccer League, preparing home-cooked dinners with family, and exploring the city and great outdoors with her two young kids.
