Alyona Ivanova completed her B.Eng in Electrical Engineering at UVic in 2015. While collaborating with Pacific Northwest National Laboratories (PNNL) she joined the IESVic team in May 2014, where she was researching and modeling the energy consumption of a household using a Smart Grid simulation environment for demand side management. In 2016 she entered a Mechanical Engineering graduate program under the supervision of Drs. Ned Djilali and Curran Crawford. Her study models renewable energy, such as solar, as an alternative clean energy source in order to reduce the green-house gas emissions and to meet increasing demand for electricity.

In her spare time Alyona enjoys running, swimming, hiking and dancing.
