Information About PICS

The Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS) develops impactful, evidence-based climate change solutions through collaborative partnerships which connect solution seekers with experts from BC’s four leading research universities.

Established in 2008 through a major endowment from the Province of British Columbia, PICS is independently hosted and led by the University of Victoria in collaboration with the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and the University of Northern British Columbia. The four institutions are the pillars of what has grown to be a research network that engages key stakeholders, advances climate solutions, and informs policy leadership. PICS is nonpartisan, policy-neutral and technology-neutral.

Our Vision

PICS shares a global vision of net-negative greenhouse gas emissions by mid-century alongside all communities adapting to a changing climate. PICS mandate is to produce leading climate solutions research that is actively used by decision makers to develop effective mitigation and adaptation policies and actions. PICS has a global remit, but a focus on BC
