PICS-supported social scientists and policy analysts with the SFU Sustainable Transportation Research Team (SFU-START) are researching the impact of new mobility modes including ride-hailing, car sharing, Uber, Lyft and automated vehicles on BC's and Canada's climate goals.
"We don't yet know if new mobility transportation types will be good or bad for the climate. It's important to understand how consumers might interact with these modes now, so policymakers can better design their climate policies for the future."

START is a research collaborative within the School of Resource and Environmental Management in the Faculty of Environment at Simon Fraser University. The collaborative focuses on the transition to lower-impact transportation systems. Its research is made possible in part by support from PICS through the Transportation Futures project.
