Protecting ecosystems in a changing climate

How can we adapt conservation plans in B.C. to minimize impacts?

Climate change is already having substantial effects on B.C.’s ecosystems. As ecosystems continue to shift, it’s important to monitor which species and regions are most threatened.

In 2019, the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions funded the development of an online planning tool which provides valuable information for conservation planners. Researchers with the Climate Adaptive Planning for British Columbia project partnered with The Nature Trust, the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, and the B.C. Parks Foundation to understand practitioner needs and then compile evidence and information in a tool that can aid planning.
