Building tools for local climate policy

Framework evaluates which climate adaptations bring the most benefit.

Local governments play an important role in both climate adaptation and emissions reduction policies, as they are responsible for land use planning, transportation, and building requirements. Through Delivering Effective Climate Mitigation and Adaptation Solutions for Municipalities, a project funded by Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, researchers and the staff at the City of Victoria developed a tool to identify the most efficient ways to reduce carbon emissions under the municipality’s jurisdiction. The tool includes building and transportation energy consumption.
