Employers can apply until Nov. 29 for up to $15,000 to hire a student intern

The PICS Climate Internship Program is now open for employer applications for Summer 2025. This program offers an exciting opportunity for organizations in British Columbia to boost their climate action efforts. 

Through this program, the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS) offers up to $15,000 for organizations to hire a student intern from one of the PICS-network universities (University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, University Northern British Columbia, University of Victoria) to assist with a climate action project. Organizations from various sectors—including non-profits, Indigenous organizations, local governments, and provincial agencies—can benefit from this funding, adding capacity to advance key climate projects. 

In 2024, a record 25 students were placed in internships through this program, working on a range of high-impact projects such as air quality improvement, sustainable transportation, and climate adaptation. These internships provided students with valuable work experience while helping communities and organizations tackle climate challenges. Host organizations included the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, Squamish Nation, British Columbia Centre for Disease Control, Gorge Waterway Action Society, City of Kelowna and North Shore Emergency Management, showcasing the broad impact of the program across B.C.
