Design and Delivery of a Half-Day Workshop on Project Management
Background:
The Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions (PICS) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified individuals or organizations to design and deliver an introductory two-hours to a half-day online workshop on Project Management. The goal of this workshop is to introduce the 2025 PICS Climate Interns, the UVIC 2025 Sustainability Scholars, and the UBC Sustainability Scholars to project management approaches and styles, and to provide additional resources.
Over the course of the summer 2025, approximately 150 students (graduate and undergrad) will be conducting applied research and other types of climate action projects in diverse organizations across BC, including governments, non-profits, private enterprises, and Indigenous organizations. For many, this will be their first experience of working on specific projects in professional environments. Our hope is that a brief introduction to and overview of project management principles and approaches will provide them with some fundamentals to take forward into their work. It is also an opportunity to share further resources for those wishing to learn more.
Workshop objective:
The workshop will provide participants with introductory knowledge on key principles and approaches to plan, execute, and manage projects, ensuring successful outcomes. The workshop may cover key project management tools and techniques that can be applied immediately in the workplace.
Contract scope and deliverables:
- Design and deliver a two-hour to half/day workshop for PICS Interns and UVIC and UBC Sustainability Scholars
- The workshop should provide an overview of project management methodologies/approaches as well as cover core project management concepts, such as:

- Monitoring, tracking, and reporting progress
- Closing and evaluating project outcomes
- Part of the session could incorporate engaging exercises, such as real-world examples or breakout group discussions to facilitate active learning.
- Delivery should include all necessary materials, including a workshop agenda, handouts, and any additional resources for participants. PICS can provide our professional account
- Zoom platform and assist with hosting.
- PICS may be interested in working with the contractor to record all or part of the session to make it available as a resource on the PICS website.
